Margaux Blas debuts first eco-art installation at SM City Iloilo
Margaux Blas is turning heads — and trash — into treasures with the upcoming launch of her very first eco-art installation, “Mangrove Memory,” opening June 6 at 4:00 PM at the SM Southpoint Turf Area in SM City Iloilo.
Blas, a “planeteer” and lifelong lover of nature, has transformed her childhood passion for the environment into a powerful creative movement.
Collaborating with SM City Iloilo, waste management platform Rezbin, the NISU Young Environmentalist Society, and her close-knit team lovingly dubbed “The Bodega Gang,” Blas brings sustainability and art together in a striking visual experience made entirely from recycled and upcycled materials.
“I’ve always loved nature — from summer camps in the province to watching Captain Planet as a kid,” Blas shared. “Becoming an eco-artist has always been a dream, and now it’s finally coming true!”
Hailing from the quiet coastal town of Ajuy in Iloilo, Margaux Blas is a visionary eco-artist whose work pulses with life, memory, and a deep reverence for the Earth.
Her creative universe is one where endemic flora and fauna mingle seamlessly with oriental architecture, hand-painted signs, and intricate geometric patterns — each element a thread in the rich tapestry she weaves. This signature style evokes a rhythmic harmony that speaks to both cultural rootedness and imaginative expansion.
Mangrove Memory explores the rich biodiversity of coastal ecosystems while challenging visitors to rethink waste and its potential. Through the creative reuse of discarded items, Blas invites the public to imagine a future where sustainability and beauty go hand-in-hand.
“There’s so much waste in the world — but there’s also so much possibility,” she says. “This is about more than art. It’s about community, creativity, and protecting the planet we call home.”
The launch event promises an inspiring mix of advocacy and artistry, open to all ages. Guests are encouraged to bring family, friends, and a healthy dose of eco-spirit.
With her debut, Blas is not only showcasing her talent but also launching what she hopes will become a growing movement toward environmental awareness through creative expression.
Mangrove Memory is open to the public starting June 6, 2025.
