Alex Española’s “Article III” now part of UPV Art Collection
Alex Española’s masterpiece titled, Article III is now part of the art collection of the University of the Philippines Visayas.
The artwork is a 4ft x 4ft acrylic painting, a handwrote on canvas of the Article III of the Bill of Rights of the 1987 Philippine Constitution that guarantees the people’s right to equal protection.
The artwork is Española’s statement on what he feels about the surging disregard for such rights.
Alex Moscoso Española is a multidisciplinary artist from Tibiao, Antique, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree from De La Salle University Manila. He draws inspiration for his works from the socio-political, cultural, and economic realities of the Philippines and he has been doing art since 1998.
Española had six solo exhibitions, the most recent was Personiforms at the Mamusa Gallery.
Española is currently taking up Juris Doctor in the UP College of Law Extension Program in Iloilo.
The painting was turned over to UP Visayas on February 21, 2023 through a Deed of Donation and was received by Prof. Martin Genodepa, Director of the Office Office of Initiatives in Culture and the Arts on behalf of the state university.
